Scripted land and area security for Second LifeŽ since 2004.
Homes and Skyboxes
Installing a PDS HomeSecurity™ Orb to proctect your place is as simple as rez'ing, clicking and clicking SETUP. Answer 4 basic questions then Turn it on. Thats it!
The HS Orb is pre-configured with sensible default settings that will
not cause any problems with your neighbours. There are an additional
settings you can customise to get things just right. You can get help from the online documentation or by Instant
Message.
For more information see More Details below.
Public Spaces
The PDS HomeSecurity™ Orb can be used as a simpler way to manage public spaces. It can also allow others to become Operators, to help manage public spaces, without giving extra Estate or Group permissions.
Commands are available to allow any Operator to:
- Land Ban (for X hours or permanently) any person by name or key.
- Eject any person by name or key.
- Teleport home any person by name or key.
- To learn more about these click Help on the HS Orb's menu then Commands on the web page.
- You can have up to 40 Operators or a whole group as authorised Operators.
The Orb can be configured to have:
- Avatar Script Limits: Monitor avatar attached scripts and warn and/or teleport home anyone exceeding your thresholds. Lag management.
- Display Name Fraud Protection: Anyone with a similar Display Name to an
Operator is logged and optionally reported to the Operator. Anyone with
the same Display Name as an Operator but not a valid Operator is removed from the area.
- Multiple Orbs can network together to share names and on/off state. Other settings can be individually tailored to their area.
Estates and Rentals
By default the PDS HomeSecurity™ Orb does not interfere with neighbouring parcels
and its only requirement is that it be owned by the lands owner. This
may include deeding the Orb. Once this requirement is met you can
authorised someone to use it to control access. No need for extra group or estate permissions.
Estate Owners
The default settings of the HS Orb can be adjusted to your
requirements. Then these settings can be transfered to other Orbs. This
is done via a Settings notecard. Estate owners can easily /8reset the Orb when a renter leaves to get these default settings back.
Renters
Renters will need to have permission to deed the HS Orb to the lands
group. Once done the renter will have the options to control land
access on their parcel. This includes: Land Banning, Teleporting Home & Ejecting. These can be done on an individual incident basis or continuously to the same trouble makers and unauthorised visitors.
Large Land Parcels
Four PDS HomeSecurity™ Orbs can cover a whole region. They can network together to act as one, sharing names and on/off state. Other settings can be set individually on each for maximum customisation.
